Job Description

Pact is currently looking for casual Community Support Workers for our youth service in the Invercargill area

The Role

Pact is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to work alongside our rangatahi who experience challenges with their mental health. Even if you have had no previous experience, though know you have the right attitude, enjoy supporting people in your personal life, have a natural way about you, are innovative and can think on your feet and you’re willing to learn and grow not only yourself, but the people around you.  We focus on self-development, where you will have a chance to train and gain further education on the job, which enhances your CV within the organisation. Our starting rate is $24.78 an hour and increases to $29.10 after completing your Career Force Level 4 qualification with us, which is on the job based training. We offer a lot of training which ensures you have the skills to be the best support person within Pact.

As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend, awake night and sleepover shifts.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

 

Excellent communication and networking skills and the ability to build and sustain working relationships with clients, staff and external agencies is essential. Previous professional experience in the mental health field and experience of working with child and youth clients will be an advantage.

A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential. Otherwise, there is an expectation that you will be willing to start working towards obtaining a level 4 mental health qualification after your first year of employment.

 

  • A full driver's licence as you will be expected to drive clients when needed
  • Computer skills are essential
  • If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months
  • Must be available for an interview in Invercargill
