We are seeking a motivated, people-focused Service Manager who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about developing others. This role offers genuine scope for growth, innovation, and leadership development. These are Lower Hutt and Kapiti based roles.

Job Description

The Opportunity

As a Service Manager, you will oversee a team of support workers across a variety services. You’ll ensure high-quality, person-centred support while driving service improvement and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.

This is a role for someone who takes initiative, enjoys problem-solving, and is excited by the opportunity to shape services and grow professionally.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of support workers to deliver exceptional community-based support.
  • Oversee multiple services, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred practice.
  • Drive service development, quality improvement, and innovative approaches to support.
  • Build strong relationships with whānau, community partners, and external agencies.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and operational planning to ensure sustainable service delivery.
  • Monitor service outcomes and ensure compliance with sector standards and organisational policies.
  • Support staff capability through training, supervision, and performance development.
  • Champion a culture of growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Desired Skills and Experience

What You'll Bring

  • Proven leadership or management experience within the social services, disability, youth, or mental health sectors.
  • A passion for supporting people with high and complex needs to live fulfilling lives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing service plans, policies, and quality frameworks.
  • Sound judgement, resilience, and the ability to navigate challenging situations.
  • Initiative, curiosity, and a desire to grow your leadership capability.
  • A relevant qualification in social services, health, or management (preferred but not essential)
