Job Description
About the Role
We’re looking for an energetic, passionate person who enjoys spending time with children and young people aged 6 to 24. This role focuses on supporting young people as they build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their goals.
In this role, you will:
Support young people to engage in meaningful activities like sport, fishing, swimming, and walking
Help them work toward big goals – getting a driver’s licence, finding housing, connecting with their community, building natural supports, and pursuing education or employment
Motivate and encourage young people to stay focused and positive
Manage complex behaviours and support needs, including mental health, disability, and addiction challenges
Work independently while knowing when to reach out for support during a crisis
Be based primarily in Kapiti with travel required up to Levin
Desired Skills and Experience
What you’ll bring
Our Kapiti based Wellington team is looking for someone with:
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A positive attitude and calm approach in challenging situations
A genuine passion for helping others grow and succeed
A full driver’s licence and basic computer skills
A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 4 Health & Wellbeing) — or willingness to work toward one once you’re on board
Must have the right to work in New Zealand
