Job Description

About the Role
We’re looking for an energetic, passionate person who enjoys spending time with children and young people aged 6 to 24. This role focuses on supporting young people as they build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their goals.

In this role, you will:

  • Support young people to engage in meaningful activities like sport, fishing, swimming, and walking
  • Help them work toward big goals – getting a driver’s licence, finding housing, connecting with their community, building natural supports, and pursuing education or employment
  • Motivate and encourage young people to stay focused and positive
  • Manage complex behaviours and support needs, including mental health, disability, and addiction challenges
  • Work independently while knowing when to reach out for support during a crisis
  • Be based primarily in Kapiti with travel required up to Levin

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring

Our Kapiti based Wellington team is looking for someone with:

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A positive attitude and calm approach in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for helping others grow and succeed
  • A full driver’s licence and basic computer skills
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 4 Health & Wellbeing) — or willingness to work toward one once you’re on board
  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand

What will Pact offer you?

At Pact, you’ll be part of a supportive, down-to-earth team that cares equally about our staff as we do the people we support. We offer you:

  • In-house training to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to best support our clients
  • $26.80 - $31.47 per hour based on qualification
  • Celebrate your milestones with Long Service benefits
  • Encouragement and support to achieve the NZQA Level 4 Qualification
  • Free Employee Assistance if you require additional, confidential support
  • Watch people grow and blossom whilst celebrating every achievement
