Job Description

About the Role

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated person to join our Access and Choice team. We provide timely, short-term support (up to three months) for adults and young people experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges in the Hutt Valley.

You’ll work alongside individuals to strengthen self-management skills, improve wellbeing, and connect them to the right services and supports. Most people we support are experiencing mild to moderate challenges, such as anxiety, low mood, or wanting to build a healthier lifestyle.

 

Your day-to-day will include:

  • One-on-one sessions with clients to set and achieve personal goals
  • Supporting emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing
  • Connecting people to community services (e.g., housing, employment, financial support)
  • Providing practical help and information
  • Encouraging social and whānau connections
  • Accurate documentation of client processes

Desired Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, positive attitude and proactive approach
  • A genuine passion for helping others grow and succeed
  • Full NZ driver’s licence and basic computer skills
  • Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 4 Mental Health) or willingness to work toward one
  • The right to work in New Zealand
