Job Description

About the role 

Your role will include supporting clients in meaningful community activities, assisting with daily household tasks, and providing support with personal hygiene. You will also assist in gaining and maintaining social, health, education, whanau, and cultural reconnection.

As we operate 24/7, work hours may include day, evening, weekend, awake night, and sleepover shifts.

We are currently looking for a permanent full-time community support worker.

We are also looking for a permanent full-time PermiFlex. This role requires you to work a variety of day, evening, weekend, awake night and sleepover shifts across our Dunedin Intellectual Disability Services. 

  • Encouraging and motivating client participation in day-to-day life
  • Supporting them with activities of daily living, including in the community
  • Ensuring support with medication and personal hygiene 
  • Supporting social and whanau connection
  • Ensuring client processes are accurately documented
  • Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills and Experience

  • A full driver's licence is essential 
  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand (visas must be valid for more than twelve months)
  • A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with clients, staff, and external agencies
