Job Description

Pact is looking for casual Community Support Workers in Dunedin to support people to lead fulfilling lives.

 

The Role

Pact is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person to work alongside people recovering from mental illness. We are seeking an individual who will inspire, encourage, and be a role model with excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Your role will include coordinating meaningful activities, encouraging client participation, assisting with daily house tasks, and supporting individuals in setting and achieving their goals. You will also assist in gaining and maintaining social, health, education, whanau, and cultural reconnection.

As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend, awake night, and sleepover shifts.

  • Encouraging and motivating client participation in day-to-day life
  • Supporting them with activities of daily living, including in the community
  • Ensuring support with medication and personal hygiene 
  • Supporting social and whanau connection
  • Ensuring client processes are accurately documented
  • Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills and Experience

  • A full driver's licence is essential 
  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand (visas must be valid for more than twelve months)
  • A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with clients, staff, and external agencies
